A practical, interactive experience for churches
This 2.5-hour workshop helps church leaders and congregations understand the refugee journey, reflect on God's heart for the foreigner, and identify practical ways to serve locally.
Biblical foundation
Reflect on God's heart for the foreigner and consider how Scripture shapes a faithful response to displaced neighbors.
Lived experience
Hear testimony from a refugee neighbor, followed by Q+A, and engage in a loss simulation that builds empathy and understanding.

What the workshop covers
01 · Grounding and context
Grounding in the Bible: understanding and reflecting God's heart for the foreigner. Then explore the refugee journey and a factual overview of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program, including its current status.
02 · Empathy and testimony
Take part in a loss simulation, hear testimony from a refugee neighbor, and participate in Q+A. PRC hopes to invite Bikonzi Moise, featured in the referenced book.
03 · Resettlement and response
Understand resettlement challenges and opportunities, the Church's unique role, and the difference between helping and helping without hurting.
04 · Local opportunities
Discover volunteer opportunities customized for the host church's geographic area, with practical next steps for individuals, small groups, and church leaders.
05 · From learning to action
Leave with ideas for a post-workshop follow-up plan that helps your congregation continue learning, volunteering, and building relationships with refugee neighbors.
What your church provides
Choose a date and time at least eight weeks out, then send PRC a few options. The workshop welcomes people from other churches, so open registration beyond your congregation. Promote the workshop and encourage online registration, provide a thank-you card for the refugee guest speaker, and use the honorarium check PRC provides.
Space and setup
Secure a meeting space for about 50 people, seated in groups around tables with clear visibility of the screen. Provide two working microphones when possible.
A/V support and refreshments
Provide someone to troubleshoot A/V at the start, including the PowerPoint connection from a Mac, slide advancement, and a one-minute video with sound. Light refreshments are optional.

What does PRC provide?

Two workshop facilitators and one refugee guest speaker, plus timely updates to the presentation and all participant materials, including take-home packets.
How does registration work?

PRC creates and shares a registration page, provides promotional graphics you may edit, communicates registration numbers, and creates the code APOSTOLIC for half-price registration. Anyone may email PRC to request free registration.
